Education & Outreach

The established adage 'Science is meaningless unless communicated' is core value for APECS. The current generation of polar scientists have a responsibility to engage in education and outreach events to inspire and foster the next generation. APECS Norway has an established track record participating in several annual outreach events, including Arctic Frontiers, International Polar Weeks, and Pint of Science festivals!

Arctic Frontiers is a catalyst for decision-making and network building by mobilising key voices of science, policy, business, and local Arctic communities, to rapidly turn knowledge into actions. In the past, APECS hosted Communication Workshops, Science for Schools, and poster prizes alongside the conference. Stay tuned for 2024 APECS events alongside Arctic Frontiers in early 2024!

The Pint of Science festival aim is ' to deliver exciting and engaging talks on the latest science and research discoveries in an accessible and fun format to the public - all in the pub!' The main annual festival takes place over three days in May simultaneously in pubs across the world. In May 2023 APECS Norway joined forces with the volunteers with Pint of Science Norway to support the festival across the country. Stay tuned for more!

Whether it's the Arctic or Antarctic, scientists from all over the world are working together to increase our knowledge of the cryosphere and its inhabitants. It is for this spirit of international cooperation that APECS proudly supports International Polar Week. Held during the equinoxes in March and September, there are online and in-person activities aimed to develop outreach and knowledge for polar science!
