📣 PhD position in Geology/Geophysics

👉The Geoscience department at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim has a vacancy for a PhD Candidate in Geology/Geophysics - IV-41/26.

👉The RIFT-2-DRIFT project seeks to identify, map and characterize the formation of an oceanic ridge.

👉The main objectives are:

(1) constrain the final separation of continental lithosphere

(2) provide a definition to the ‘breakup’ stage in the Wilson Cycle together with a mapping toolbox

(3) characterize the initiation of an oceanic spreading centre.

👉The PhD candidate will have to work with seismic reflection interpretation (2D regional and 3D blocks), potential field modelling, and plate reconstructions. 

👉The total duration of the Ph.D. position is three years, starting by August 1st 2026.
