📣 PhD position in Sea Ice Microbial Diversity and Production

👉The Arctic and Marine Biology (AMB) department at the UiT- The Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø has a vacancy for a PhD Candidate in Sea Ice Microbial Diversity and Production.

👉The PhD project is affiliated with the European Research Council project Micro-SHIFT – Microbial life of Sea ice Habitats Investigated for The Arctic.

👉The PhD project will focus on characterizing the drivers of algal species selection and acclimation potential across sea ice microhabitats, including field-based work on mixed communities and iSI-Bio experiments on isolated cultures.

👉The candidate will also assess the physical-chemical drivers of microbial (e.g. algal, bacterial and fungal) diversity more broadly and work to partition their relative contributions to production and respiration within the sea ice biome.
